The Daily Create challenge for May 24th (#tdc2690) was to discuss other services libraries could offer to stay relevant.  I do visit my local library often and all of the prior create postings seemed to encompass the typical responses to the question.  Therefore, I decided to try another direction.  My tweet meant to state the case that today in an age where most Americans spend more than 8 hours of screen time between school, work, and home on a daily basis, the physical book is actually a unique commodity.  Although digital book usage is popular, recent studies show that physical books are more effective for knowledge retention in toddlers and that Millennials actually favor them over digital versions.  Libraries should embrace this trend and use it as a selling point.  Personally, my appreciation for physical books has increased immeasurably since a majority of my books are digital.  There is nothing that can compare to the texture and the pages of a well crafted book.
