Selfie with Your Pet

The “Selfie with Your Pet” assignment was challenging.  You see, I have more than one pet, and I couldn’t showcase one over the other.  Try placing two small dogs in your lap at the same time after they have been riled up playing ball, then squeezing in to fit the entire group within the iPhone’s camera range.  That doesn’t even include successfully prompting the dogs to look in the direction of the camera.  It took me many attempts!  I have recently discovered that the quality of selfies are all about arm length, and I am severely limited in that regard!

My two dogs are Sofie, a long-haired chihuahua from New Mexico, and Sirius Black (Harry Potter fans, you know what I’m talking about), a terrier mix from the southern U.S.   They both originated from rough backgrounds before we adopted them from the animal shelter.  Sofie is anxious around people, especially those wearing baseball caps. Sirius has been shot numerous times by a bb gun.  He still has some pellets in his skin.  They have gradually adjusted to Maine climates, and although they resent snow, they will now walk in it.  We have been excited to see signs of trust and love from them as time progresses.  Now Sofie and Sirius regularly prompt us to cuddle them and rub their bellies;  we are thrilled to comply.  That’s what true owner-pet love is all about!
