Daily Create- #tdc 2721-Art Can Change the World

Today’s Daily Create challenged others to present some artwork that “changed the world for some time”.  I immediately thought of Rosie the Riveter.  J. Howard Miller’s image on the “We Can Do It” poster is the most common depiction that is presented today.  Yet, Norman Rockwell’s painting was the first visual image to capture the character.  One of my favorite aspects of the painting, which you can’t see from my Twitter screenshot, is how Rosie’s feet are stepping on Hitler’s manifesto, Mein Kampf.

This was a bittersweet Daily Create assignment-it was my last for the 304 ENG class.  Although it felt odd, it was probably the best Daily Create experience I have had so far.  As soon as I saw the challenge, I started to quickly think of the topic I would cover.  It only took me a moment.  I felt confident in my answer and was easily able to Tweet my message out, which was an extreme contrast to my #tdc 2690 daily create attempt!   As I am typing my review for #tdc 2721, I realize that the concept of Rosie even symbolizes a message to the current and future classes of ENG 304.  Don’t worry-We can do it!
