ART 199-Collage: The Language of Cut and Paste

I had never taken an art class before. This UNE Collage class helped me look at images, colors, and other visuals using a new perspective. I believe that this training also helped me to develop my Capstone Academic Poster.

ARC 235- The Archaeology of New England

This class provided a basic overview of archaeology, with emphasis on ethics and social responsibility. Our class was unable to actually perform any excavation, as it ran during spring of 2021, in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic. However, I wrote a paper regarding Paleoindian female economic contributions at Bull Brook, and developed my first academic poster. This paved the way for my interest in pursuing an academic poster for my Capstone project.

HIS 22-US Hist 1: Contact-Civil War

This history class involved a role playing game, where each student was assigned a political character in Kentucky 1861. We held debates, wrote bills, voted for house speakers, military leaders, etc. I created some historical newspapers: a combination of images found from digital newspapers of the time and my own articles to influence players. I enjoyed the historical and visual creativity of this newspaper project.

Women, Sexuality, and Gender Studies Related Projects/Topics

After taking several history classes, I found that I resonated towards topics concerning women, which inspired me to pursue a Women, Sexuality, and Gender Studies minor. Here are a few examples of that earlier work:

HIS 399-Native New England, Slide from presentation
