December 8, 2024,
To Whom it May Concern,
My name is Candace Baker, and I am an UNE employee and student. As a UNE History major, Anthropology minor, and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies minor, I have found that I am thoroughly equipped to apply for this position. My history major has developed my research skills, problem solving aptitude, and critical thinking skills. My minors in Anthropology and Gender, Women and Sexuality studies have intertwined with my history major, offering a comprehensive view of historical angles. As a student, I have also learned to collaborate with other students on projects, conduct interviews with historians, and synthesize historical narratives through multiple mediums, such as podcasts, academic posters, historical fiction papers, and museum panel exhibits.
In addition, I am currently employed as an Academic Assessment Technician at the College of Osteopathic Medicine. I work with faculty and students every day to build and administer quality exams through a software program called ExamSoft.
As a student and employee, I have worked on many tasks that are similar to the requirements of this position. I currently employ planning and organizational strategies in everything that I do, such as coordinating and scheduling exam sessions, archiving exam information, and building exams by specific deadlines. I assist students and faculty every day with exam issues, as well as enforce, interpret and explain exam procedures and protocol. I help support educational experiences in Leonard Hall. I enjoy working on efficiency projects-in the past year, I implemented an online method through ExamSoft for faculty to assess students with clinical skills exams, which reduced paper costs and provided a secure method for students to receive their results.
As a current UNE undergraduate, I have had the unique opportunity to experience UNE as a student. This aspect improves my job performance and helps me understand students’ perspectives while taking undergraduate classes. As part of my undergraduate studies, I have completed courses in accounting and coding.
I would welcome a chance to further discuss my qualifications in more thorough detail.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Candace E. Baker
