Today the Daily Create challenge was to “Let the work of George Melies inspire you today”. His 1912 film, The Conquest of the Pole, was posted for review. I admit, when I first started watching this I was in despair! I had no idea who George Melies was or what his work was about. However, as time progressed, I noticed some elements of the movie I recognized, such as the dress of the actors, the method of the film work, the props. Then I experienced a flashback: I was in 1996 again watching the “Tonight, Tonight” video by the Smashing Pumpkins. When I conducted some research, I found that Melies had also directed A Trip to the Moon, which the music video is based on. For my create part of the task, I found a picture of the music video and A Trip to the Moon that I thought were similar and merged them together. They appear fine on Twitter, but for some reason when I embedded them into the WordPress page it is not visible.
